CCANV ATHLETICS

Cornerstone Christian Academy offers a variety of athletic opportunities for students in grades 4–8, encouraging them to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually through participation in team sports.

Our athletic program is designed to be co-curricular, enriching the educational experience by reinforcing character, discipline, and teamwork within a Christ-centered environment. Students are encouraged to discover and develop their talents while learning lessons that extend far beyond the field or court.

At CCA, athletics serve as an extension of the classroom — where teamwork, respect, and perseverance are taught through practice and lived through competition. Our goal is not only to build skilled athletes but also strong leaders who reflect Christ in their words, actions, and sportsmanship.

Athletic Philosophy

The CCA athletic program is committed to developing teamwork, integrity, leadership, and perseverance.
We believe that sports should teach:

  • Discipline through consistent effort

  • Respect for coaches, teammates, and opponents

  • Confidence through skill development

  • Faith through grace, humility, and service

Our athletes learn that victory comes not only in winning games, but in demonstrating Christlike character on and off the court.

MEET OUR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Coach Robert Berkey

Cornerstone Christian Academy is led in athletics by Coach Robert Berkey, who brings years of experience in both competitive sports and leadership development. Now in his fifth season as Athletic Director, Coach Berkey has guided the CCA athletic program with a clear vision of excellence, teamwork, and faith-based leadership.

Under his direction, Cornerstone has achieved multiple playoff appearances and back-to-back RRAC basketball championships, reflecting his commitment to consistent growth and high standards for student-athletes. A graduate of UNLV, Coach Berkey earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance and played as a reserve for the Runnin’ Rebels basketball team from 2004–2006 under Coach Lon Kruger.

Coach Berkey’s philosophy emphasizes character, discipline, and personal development both on and off the court. He encourages student-athletes to approach competition with humility, perseverance, and integrity — skills that prepare them for success in sports and in life beyond athletics.

With support from administration and families, Coach Berkey has overseen significant program improvements, including facility upgrades such as a new gym floor, professional volleyball net system, and enhanced training equipment to further the athletic experience at CCA.

Coach Berkey remains dedicated to fostering a program that upholds Christian values, personal accountability, and a strong sense of school pride.
